On-grid
No batteries, lowest cost per unit, eligible for subsidy and net metering. It does not run during a grid outage, by design and by safety regulation.
Off-grid and hybrid
Off-grid uses batteries and suits locations with poor grid availability, at a meaningfully higher cost. Hybrid combines both: grid export plus battery backup for essential loads.
What most UP homes should choose
For Kanpur and Varanasi, on-grid is the right default. Add a small hybrid battery only if you need backup for specific circuits.
